SPAIN, Castalla
08-14.05.2022
day 1
09.05.2022
The first morning in Castalla was full of excitement. After a very warm welcome at school, students could see the school grounds and the classrooms while teachers participated in the meeting with the head mistress, exchanged their experiences and the challanges of the present education. Next all the partner schools proceeded to the auditorium hall, where the local authorities greeted a group of Bookpackers. In order to celebrate the EU Day, students tested their knowledge about European Union in Kahoot quiz.Â
In the afternoon we all took a walk around Castalla. With the audioguides prepared by Spanish students we could learn a lot about the area and the beautiful castle situated on the hill.
day 2
10.05.2022
Full of new energy we set off to Alicante. The whole day was great as we spent it walking the beatiful streets of the city and admiring the architecture. We also had an opportunity to broaden our knowledge about the tragedy of the civil war in Spain. The participants of the project visited air shelters in Alicante and thanks to a great guided tour we all could imagine what it was like to live in the time of war.Â
After a lunch break we went up the hill to admire the views from the Castillo de Santa Bárbara. Walking down with the splendid views around we even managed to spend a few minutes on the beach.
day 3
10.05.2022
Early in the morning all the Bookpackers were ready to head for Valencia. As the weather was absolutely wonderful we could fully enjoy taking a stroll in the charming historic centre of Valencia. The the Mercado Central (Central Market) - a spacious marketplace, a guided tour of university library, Palacio del Marqués de Dos Aguas /now Museum of Cermics/, the visit to the cathedral and cathedral tower were among many architectural attractions we had a chance to admire. The day finished in an astonishing futuristic complex on the outskirts of Valencia - La Ciutat de les Arts i les Ciències de València (The City of Arts and Sciences).
day 4
The day started with an engaging activity for students - gymkhana while teachers participated in the workshops on European School Education Platform. Afterwards all the Bookpackers had a great opportunity to attend the classes with their Spanish partners wheras teachers could do job-shadowing. It was a very interesting morning in IES.Â
After a short break everybody came to the Cultural Centre in Castalla, all partner schools gave presentations on their cultural heritage and showed short videos introducing the schools the students are from.
The afternoon was a busy one. Students took part in the Oral Expression workshops and teachers had a working meeting not only to work on the project documents but to discuss various educational issues they are coping with.
day 5 - time to say goodbye
The day has come. The literature debate this time was focused on poetry by Miguel Hernández. With the live streaming on you tube, students from all partner schools could watch and listen to our discussions held in the auditorium in Castalla.
Afterwards, the closing ceremony was held. We all realised how Erasmus+ project enriched our experinces.
As in Castalla it was a time of Mediaval Market, we could have some enjoyable moments at the town festival.
In the evening it was time to say goodbye at the farewell party thrown by IES.
Thank you all for the fantastic memories we are taking with us!
