day 1

On Monday 23rd,  the Erasmus partner schools  were welcomed by our Headmistress at a short ceremony held in XX Liceum Ogólnokształcące in Cracow. Each group had a chance to present their schools and the areas nearby in a form of short videos. Afterwards there was a group tour of Krakow city centre with the audioguides prepared by Polish students. The whole Erasmus group could follow the Royal Route and listen about the highlights of Cracow. The  walking tour included among others a visit to the Wawel Hill, admiring the old buildings of the Jagiellonian University and the Cloth Halls in the Main Market Square.

day 2

On Tuesday 24th, all the groups  went on a full day excursion to Auschwitz. There, a guided tour was held in the former Nazi concentration camp. We visited both Auschwitz I and II /Birkenau/ death camps. The times of WWII are closely connected with the book by Roma Ligocka The Girl in the Red Coat, chosen for the literature debate. After coming back to Krakow, oral expressions workshops conducted by Maciej Pabisek took place in the school building. One of the aims of the workshops was to help students process the experiences from that emotionally challenging day.

day 3

On Wednesday 25th,  the Erasmus partners visited the Wieliczka Salt Mine in the vicinity of Krakow. A private coach took all the students and teachers to Wieliczka and the whole morning was spent on a guided tour in the impressive Salt Mine. The afternoon was devoted to two other activities. In the district of Nowa Huta all the students participated in the creative workshops conducted in Nowohuckie Centrum Kultury /Nowa Huta Cultural Centre/ and in a short guided tour of this communist district.
